“Immerse in the daily lives of Tomioka,
be the family.”
Sunrise on the Takada River, a 10-minute walk from Mabushiya
Tomioka is a small provincial city in Gunma prefecture with less than 50,000 citizens.
The UNESCO world heritage Tomioka Silk Mill perhaps made this city more known to public, however, we think what is more charming is the people living here.
– Hi! (Konnichiwa!)
– Where are you going? (Doko ikun?)
This is the everyday scenery of this town whenever you walk down the street.
But it is hard to grasp the beauty of it, especially when you are a visitor only staying for a short time.
That is why we decided to create a place both for visitors and the locals to come across.
That is “mabushiya” – A machiyado where you can stay as if the whole Tomioka city were your hotel.
We hope that all guests who stay here will experience the daily lives of Tomioka, enjoy the conversation with locals and make themselves at home in this city.
About Mabushiya
Mixing the city's own resources and making the most of the everyday life around there, we offer a unique experience at "Machiyado" a business that creates a new and rewarding life for people living in the city. Focused on tourism to experience local daily life rather than artificial tourism claims. We created Mabushiya a "Machiyado" in Tomioka. We would like our guests to experience the magnificent of daily life at Tomioka. Where instead of hot spring, they have Tomioka people's hearts to warm up the town. We want our guests to experience that peculiar feeling of happiness that makes you want to go there without notice it.
